Air Fryer Roast Chicken (Air Fryer Whole Chicken Recipe)
This air fryer roast chicken recipe is easy, quick, and simple. You get tasty air fryer whole chicken made in about two third of the time to make it in the oven.
It is made with a few simple ingredients and I have used dried herbs and spices that are easily available.
This whole chicken will serve at least 6 and if you have leftover chicken you can store it for future use.
This air fryer roast chicken recipe is lowcarb, keto, high in protein, and healthy.
I have made it in my 5.5 liters air fryer which fits up to 2.5kg whole chicken. If you are using a smaller air fryer, you can spatchcock the chicken to make it fit comfortably.
Ingredients
Whole chicken
Rosemary
Thyme
Onion powder
Garlic powder
Oregano
Cayenne or black pepper
Oil - Suflower, vegetable, or Olive oil.
How to Cook Whole Chicken in Air fryer
Add paprika, garlic powder, parsley, oregano, rosemary, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and oil into a bowl. Mix till well combined.
Remove giblets from the chicken and then pat the whole chicken dry with a kitchen towel.
Apply the marinade all over the whole chicken and inside the chicken.
If you have the time, put the chicken in the fridge to marinate for 1-4 hours.
Put the marinated chicken in the air fryer basket breast side up.
Switch on the air fryer and set it to a temperature of 180C/360F. Air fry whole chicken for 40 minutes.
After 40 minutes, bring the air fryer basket out and use a thong to flip over the whole chicken to breast side up then continue to air fry at a temperature of 360F/180C for 10 minutes.
When the chicken is cooked, bring out the air fryer basket and leave the chicken to rest for at least 10 minutes before cutting it and serving.
To be sure chicken is cooked, check with a meat thermometer. If the internal temperature at the thickest point is at least 165F/75C, then it is cooked and safe to eat.

For 1.5 - 2kg whole chicken, how long to cook it in air fryer is 50 minutes at a temperature of 180C/360F.

To check if the chicken is done, insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the whole chicken, if the temperature reads 165F or more, then it is safe to eat. It is unsafe to eat chicken that is not cooked to this temperature.

To store leftover chicken, leave it cool completely, then put it in an airtight container or Ziplocs before storing in the fridge or freezer.
It will keep store well in the fridge for up to 5 days, however, if you'd like to store it for a longer time, put it in the freezer where it will last for up to 6 months.
It can be reheated from frozen in the microwave, air fryer, or oven. You don't need to thaw it before reheating but if you wish to thaw it first, you can leave it in the fridge overnight.
To reheat in the oven: Put the wings on a baking tray and bake at a temperature of 200C for 4 minutes or until it's warmed through.
