Ingredients
  

  • 1 Whole Chicken
  • 1 tablespoon Paprika
  • ½ teaspoon Garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon Cayenne or Black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon Rosemary
  • ½ teaspoon Thyme
  • ¼ teaspoon Oregano
  • 1-2 tablespoon Olive oil
  • Salt to taste

Instructions
 

  • Add paprika, garlic powder, parsley, oregano, rosemary, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and oil into a bowl. Mix till well combined.
  • Remove giblets from the chicken and then pat the whole chicken dry with a kitchen towel.
  • Apply the marinade all over the whole chicken and inside the chicken.
    If you have the time, put the chicken in the fridge to marinate for 1-4 hours.
  • Put the marinated chicken in the air fryer basket breast side up.
    Switch on the air fryer and set it to a temperature of 180C/360F.
  • Air fry whole chicken for 40 minutes. After 40 minutes, bring the air fryer basket out and use a thong to flip over the whole chicken to breast side up then continue to air fry at a temperature of 360F/180C for 10 minutes. 
  • When the chicken is cooked, bring out the air fryer basket and leave the chicken to rest for at least 10 minutes before cutting it and serving. 
  • To be sure chicken is cooked, check with a meat thermometer. If the internal temperature at the thickest point is at least 165F/75C, then it is cooked and safe to eat.

Notes

  • Don't forget to remove the giblets from inside the chicken.
  • If cooking a large whole chicken, you can spatchcock it to flatten it so it fits in the air fryer comfortably.
  • Cook with the breast side down first before flipping with a thong and cooking the other side.
  • You can use any other seasoning (be it homemade or store bought) to marinate the chicken but make sure it's a good one.
  • Let the roast chicken rest for 10 -15 minutes after cooking before you carve it.
How long to roast whole chicken in air fryer depends on the size of the chicken, the temperature air frying at, and the type and brand of your air fryer, however this is a simple guide to use:
For 1.5 - 2kg whole chicken, how long to cook it in air fryer is 50 minutes at a temperature of 180C/360F.
How long to cook whole chicken in air fryer for 2.5kg/5lb chicken is 60 minutes.To check if the chicken is done, insert a meat thermometer into the thickest part of the whole chicken, if the temperature reads 165F or more, then it is safe to eat.
It is unsafe to eat chicken that is not cooked to this temperature.
